ADNOC delivered the first shipment of LNG from Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates to the Elbehafen floating LNG terminal in Brunsbüttel, Germany.

ADNOC delivered the first shipment of LNG from Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates to the Elbehafen floating LNG terminal in Brunsbüttel, Germany.

Produced by ADNOC Gas at Das Island, Abu Dhabi, the 137,000-cu m cargo is the commissioning cargo for the new floating LNG terminal in Brunsbüttel and the first-ever LNG cargo to be shipped to Germany from the Middle East, ADNOC said in a release Feb. 15. The cargo follows the inaugural ammonia shipment in October 2022.

The LNG will be regasified and fed into the German gas grid via the Hoegh Gannet floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), which was chartered by RWE on behalf of the German government.

In September 2022, ADNOC and RWE signed an agreement for the first LNG cargo to Brunsbüttel, as well as a memorandum of understanding for multiyear supplies starting in 2023 (OGJ Online, Sept. 30, 2022).
