HOUSTON, Nov. 5 – Empire Petroleum Corp., Tulsa, suspended operations at an exploratory well in Nye County, Nev., without drilling to the original planned depth of 5,500-6,500 ft in Triassic.
Swab tests at 3,700-82 ft recovered small amounts of oil containing paraffin, which may have been restricting the oil flow, but did not increase the flow rate at the Empire Paradise Unit 2-12 well.
Engineers will study an analysis of the oil to learn whether a chemical additive might substantially improve the flow. The company ceased drilling at 4,250 ft due to drilling problems.
