Targa promotes Branstetter to succeed retiring Byers as CFO

The midstream service and infrastructure company has appointed Benjamin Branstetter to CFO and will onboard Brent Secrest as president of logistics and transportation.

Targa Resources Corp., Houston, has made leadership appointments, including promoting Benjamin J. Branstetter to chief financial officer (CFO), succeeding William A. Byers, who will retire. The appointments are effective Sept. 1, 2026.

Branstetter joined Targa in April 2017. He has served as Targa's president of logistics and transportation since March 2026, and previously served as senior vice-president of downstream commercial for various company subsidiaries. Before joining Targa, Branstetter held positions in investment banking, corporate strategy, and risk management.

Byers has served in the energy industry for three decades, including as CFO at Targa for the last 2 years. Before joining the company he held CFO roles at Manchester Energy LLC and Navitas Midstream Partners LLC. He will transition to an advisory role through yearend 2026 to support the leadership transition, the company said.

Brent B. Secrest will join Targa as president of logistics and transportation. Most recently, Secrest served as executive vice-president and chief commercial officer of Enterprise Products Partners LP where he was responsible for commercial activities across natural gas, NGL, crude oil, petrochemicals, and exports. He holds more than two decades of energy midstream experience, serving in a variety of key commercial and leadership roles.
