Civitas Resources Inc., Denver, has appointed Hodge Walker chief operating officer, effective Apr. 5, 2023. He will succeed Matt Owens who has left the company, Civitas said in a release Apr. 3.
Walker most recently served as vice-president of Chevron Corp.’s Rockies business unit, a position he held since October 2020 when Chevron acquired Noble Energy Inc. Prior to joining Chevron, Walker served as senior vice-president responsible for Noble’s US onshore operations. He also served as a director of Noble Midstream GP and as Noble’s vice-president of West Africa and the US Gulf of Mexico.
At separate times, Owens had served as chief operating officer and chief executive officer of Extraction Oil & Gas Inc. prior to its merger with Bonanza Creek Energy Inc. (OGJ Online, Mar. 5, 2020; Jan. 20, 2021; May 10, 2021).
The merger created Civitas Resources, a pure-play Colorado Denver-Julesburg (DJ) basin producer.
