Petrobras elects new CEO

Petrobras has nominated Caio Mário Paes de Andrade as Petrobras' director until the next general shareholders' meeting and elected him as the company's chief executive officer.

Petróleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) has nominated Caio Mário Paes de Andrade as Petrobras' director until the next general shareholders' meeting and elected him as the company's chief executive officer. He is expected to hold the chief executive position until Apr. 13, 2023, Petrobras said in a release June 27.

In 2019, Paes de Andrade became president of information technology company SERPRO. He then became special secretary of debureaucratization, management, and digital government, former ministry of planning, where he coordinated the expansion of administrative reform and the GOV.BR platform of Brazil.

He takes over from Fernando Borges, the company’s chief exploration and production officer, who served as interim chief executive officer following the resignation of José Mauro Coelho, who resigned the position June 20 (OGJ Online, June 20, 2022).
