Wichterich to serve as Chesapeake interim CEO following Lawler departure

Chesapeake Energy Corp., Oklahoma City, has named Mike Wichterich as interim chief executive officer following the departure of Doug Lawler, effective Apr. 30.

Chesapeake Energy Corp., Oklahoma City, has named Mike Wichterich as interim chief executive officer following the departure of Doug Lawler, effective Apr. 30. The board expects a search for a new chief executive to complete over the coming months.

Lawler has been president and chief executive officer of Chesapeake since June 2013.

Wichterich intends to continue in his role as chair following the appointment of a new chief executive. While Wichterich is both chair and interim chief executive, Matt Gallagher, chair of Chesapeake's nominating and governance committee, will serve as lead independent director.
