Oasis Petroleum Inc. has appointed Daniel E. Brown as chief executive officer effective Apr. 13, 2021.  He also was appointed to the board of directors.

Brown has 23 years of experience in the oil and natural gas industry having spent his career with Anadarko Petroleum Corp., or one of its predecessors, until Anadarko was acquired by Occidental Petroleum in August 2019.  From October 2017 to August 2019, Brown served as Anadarko's executive vice-president, US onshore operations.

With the retirement of Thomas Nusz in December 2020, the company’s board chair, Douglas E. Brooks took up the duties of chief executive officer (OGJ Online, Dec. 29, 2020). Brooks has returned to serving only as board chair; thus, the role of lead independent director is no longer required under the company bylaws. Samantha Holroyd, who has served in that role, will continue as a director, including in her role as chair of the nominating, environmental, social and governance committee.
