Shanda named president, Pacific Coast LNG project in Mexico

Douglas Shanda has been named president and chief executive officer of Mexico Pacific Ltd. (MPL), a Pacific Coast LNG project based in Mexico, effective immediately.
Shanda has been involved in the LNG, power, chemical, petrochemical, and refining industries for more than 25 years. Most recently, Shanda served as senior Vice-president of operations at Cheniere Energy.
Major permitting is complete, the company said. Work continues to finalize off-take discussions and FEED award, preparing the company for final investment decision and construction, according to a statement.
MPL looks to connect Permian gas basin to Asian markets. MPL's facility will be constructed by an EPC contractor using equipment supplied by Baker Hughes. MPL will build its 12 mtpa facility on a 1,100-acre site it owns in Puerto Libertad in Sonora, Mexico, some 125 miles south of the Arizona border. MPL is backed by AVAIO Capital.
