Sabah Shell Petroleum lets deepwater operation contracts
Sabah Shell Petroleum Co. Ltd. (SSPC) has let two contracts to Velesto Energy Bhd. subsidiary Velesto Workover Sdn. Bhd. to support SSPC’s deepwater operations offshore Sabah, East Malaysia.
The contracts outline the provision of comprehensive maintenance services for top tension risers (TTRs) at SSPC’s tension leg platform (TLP). The scope will be delivered in partnership with Velesto’s principal, INVX Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. (INVX).
SSPC operates the Gumusut-Kakap-Geronggong- Jagus East and Malikai deepwater oil-producing assets in Sabah, commissioned in 2014 and 2016, respectively.
Gumusut-Kakap is a semi-submersible floating production system in water depths up to 1,200 m. Malikai is the country’s first TLP and Shell’s first TLP outside of the Gulf of Mexico. Malikai was designed and constructed to process 60,000 b/d of oil and about 50 MMscfd of gas.
