Petrobras lets well construction, and stimulation contracts
Petróleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) has let separate oil and gas well construction and stimulation contracts for work in Brazil.
The operator awarded Weatherford International PLC a 3-year, $147-million contract to deliver tubular running services.
Weatherford will deploy an auto make-up and auto evaluation system, a multi-slip system to run mixed casing strings without the need to change slips and provide a pass-through for large diameter assemblies into the well without removing the spider slip system, a flush joint elevator to eliminate lift plugs, and an autonomous dropped string prevention system, the service provider said in a release.
Separately, Petrobras let a muti-year agreement to Baker Hughes to extend deployment of the Blue Marlin and Blue Orca stimulation vessels for Brazil’s post and presalt fields.
The vessels will deliver chemical stimulation treatments aimed at maximizing production in both brownfield and greenfield developments across multiple basins, the energy technology provider said in a separate release. Baker Hughes said the vessels also will support well construction through gravel pack and frac pack operations.
Blue Marlin and Blue Orca have operated in Brazil since 2008 and 2023, respectively.
