Four workers perished in a Sept. 3 fire at Oil & Natural Gas Corp.’s Uran oil and gas processing plant near Mumbai.

Three of the victims were security personnel responding to the incident. The resident production superintendent also was killed.

The morning fire, near an oil water sewage pit and security cabin, was extinguished within 3 hr, ONGC said.

The plant handles production from Mumbai High offshore fields.

ONGC curtailed gas processing to maintain supply to power-generation turbines, diverting remaining gas streams to its plant at Hazira. Offshore crude production was not affected.
