Strike Energy-Warrego Energy group’s West Erregulla gas field in the onshore North Perth basin permit EP 469 of Western Australia has been awarded Lead Agency Status by the Western Australian Government.
The status is awarded to major resource and infrastructure projects where the proposed investment is significant and of strategic importance to the State.
The project will be provided with case-management for government interfaces and the coordination of approvals across a range of government departments to assist Strike, as operator, to navigate the approvals processes and support the project to remain on schedule.
The West Erregulla project and surrounding resources in the Greater Erregulla region may contribute up to 20% of Western Australia’s domestic gas supply, Strike said. The field size, quality, and proximity to Perth (300 km south) means the development is likely to be one of the lowest cost sources of large-scale available gas to supply the Western Australian market.
Strike and Warrego aim to bring Stage 1 development of West Erregulla on stream during the first half of 2022.
