Lukoil, Uzbekistan discuss partnership enhancement

Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev hosted Vagit Alekperov, president of PJSC Lukoil, and other Lukoil representatives to discuss opportunities to enhance their existing partnership.

Lukoil is a key investor in Uzbekistan’s oil and gas sector through the development of South-West Gissar and Ustyurt region fields and the 8-billion cu m/year Kandym gas processing complex in southwestern Uzbekistan’s province of Bukhara, brought into operation in April 2018 (OGJ Online, Apr. 19, 2018).

Opportunities for further cooperation were discussed, including the implementation of Lukoil’s corporate management solutions and adoption of digital technologies to Uzbekistan’s oil and gas sector; exploration and development opportunities, including hard-to-recover reserves; as well as scientific research cooperation and the training of energy sector professionals.
