Samson Resources II LLC, Tulsa, has acquired 33,000 gross acres (10,500 net) plus working interests in 30 wells (29 operated by Samson) in Sweetwater County, Wyo., from a non-operated working interest partner for $15.9 million. The deal, which closed June 8, increases Samson’s working interest to 90% in most operated producing and future wells.

The acquired wells produce 450 net boe/d. Following the deal’s closing, Samson owns rights to more than 53,000 net acres in Wyoming’s Green River basin.

The company is divesting noncore assets and increasing focus on core assets in the Powder River and Green River basins. Commenting on activity in the area, Joseph Mills, Samson president and chief executive officer, said the company “recently completed two of the best performing vertical Fort Union wells in the immediate area,” and said the company will “focus on testing our down-spacing plans on our Green River basin acreage position during 2018 (OGJ Online, Sep. 12, 2017)."
