– Synergy Resources Corp., Denver, let a contract to Ensign United States Drilling Inc. to drill 20 or more wells in giant Wattenberg gas-condensate and oil field in the Denver-Julesburg basin in Weld County, Colo.

Synergy, operator, said logs at the first well indicate 17 ft of pay with 14-16% porosity in the Codell formation and 29 ft of pay with 12% porosity in the Niobrara. All of the wells are projected to 7,600-8,500 ft to test the Niobrara, Codell, and J sand formations. Drilling cost is estimated at $125,000-180,000 depending on depth.

Synergy Resources continues to increase its leasehold position and held 12,248 gross acres (10,406 net acres) as of Mar. 10.
