OMV in group boosting electric transport

OMV AG has joined a joint venture of automakers committed to building a network of fast and powerful charging stations for electric vehicles in Europe.

The joint venture, IONITY, includes BMW Group, Daimler AG, Ford Motor Co., and Volkswagen Group. OMV joins as a strategic partner.

OMV sites along major routes in central and eastern Europe are to be equipped with two to six, 350-kw charging points.

The company plans to open the first site during the first half of 2018.
