MOL discovers new oil field in western Hungary

MOL Hungarian Oil and Gas PLC discovered a new oil field near Somogysámson in western Hungary.

The Som-8 well was spudded on Nov. 25, 2024, and was completed in 33 days. The discovery added a new field in the Transdanubian region, where oil was last discovered more than a decade ago, teh company said. 

The well can produce 1,200 bo/d based on well testing up to March 2025. The oil is being transported by truck to the Danube Refinery in Százhalombatta.
