The UK unit of Premier Oil PLC has spudded the East Fyne appraisal well on UK Central North Sea Block 21/28a.

The well is in the eastern part of Fyne field, an Eocene Tay oil accumulation southwest of and on trend with the producing Northwest Guillemot oil field and 3 km from the Erne Tay discoveries announced in November and December 2011.

The well is being drilled at no cost to Antrim Energy Inc., Calgary, which holds a 35.1% working interest in the block. Premier carries Antrim’s share of the costs under terms of an earn-in agreement between Premier and Antrim for joint development of the Greater Fyne area.
