Shearwater starts UK Mid North Sea High 3D seismic

Shearwater GeoServices’ Oceanic Vega has started acquiring the second phase of ION Geophysical Corp.’s 11,000-sq km UK Mid North Sea High 3D seismic survey.
Shearwater GeoServices’ Oceanic Vega has started acquiring the second phase of ION Geophysical Corp.’s 11,000-sq km (4,247-sq mi) UK Mid North Sea High 3D seismic survey. The 5-month second phase builds on the initial survey conducted in 2020.
Upon completion in mid-October, the survey area will have increased six-fold.
Mid North Sea High was among the frontier areas awarded in the UK’s 31st offshore licensing round, held 2 years ago (OGJ Online, June 4, 2019).
Shearwater also has joined the Centre for Geophysical Forecasting (CGF) as a partner. CGF is a research center hosted by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
