PRIO reaches first oil from Wahoo field offshore Brazil
PRIO, the largest independent oil and natural gas production company in Brazil, has reached first oil from Wahoo field.
The operator plans to release additional information about the productivity of the well, along with a forecast for other potential future producing wells, after production stabilizes and certified production measurements are completed.
Wahoo field lies about 19 miles (30 km) north of the producing Frade field in Brazil's Campos basin in 1,400 m of water with a carbonate reservoir in the presalt at 5,000-7,000 m. Oil in the field has API gravity of 30°, low viscosity, and associated gas, the company said.
PRIO plans to drill a total of four producer wells and two water-injection wells to develop the field, which is estimated to hold potential to produce more than 125 million bbl of oil in the presalt layer.
The newly producing well is tied back to the 100,000-b/d Frade FPSO about 150 km from the coast.
