CNOOC starts production at Xijiang oilfield Block 24 development
CNOOC Ltd. started production at the Xijiang oilfield Block 24 development project in the shallow waters of Pearl River Estuary basin in southern China.
The project mainly relies on existing infrastructure in the Huixi Oilfield Group and uses a new unmanned wellhead platform. The project plans for ten production wells and is expected to achieve peak production of about 18,000 boe/d in 2026. The oil is light crude.
The new Xijiang 24-7 platform is the first unmanned platform for cooling and export of high-termperature oil, gas, and water mixtures in China's offshore. Its innovative temperature-control system reduces the impact of high temperatures on subsea pipelines and ensures continuous and stable production of oilfields, according to CNOOC.
CNOOC is operator and owns 100% of the project.
