NPD okays start of Ekofisk water project

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has consented to the start of a ConocoPhillips water-injection project that will boost oil production at Ekofisk oil field in the Norwegian North Sea by an estimated 17 million bbl.

The Ekofisk 2/4 VC project includes a subsea template and four injection wells. The Ministry of Petroleum and Energy approved the project last September.

NPD estimates the investment at $280 million.
