Petrobras resumes additional Bahia Terra production
Petróleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) is restarting additional production from the Bahia Terra Cluster in Bahia, Brazil, following a late-April approval from the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP).
On Apr. 28, Petrobras received approval to resume production from production from six more installations located in the Bahia Terra Cluster’s Taquipe, Buracica, Fazenda Alvorada, Rio do Bu, and Cidade de Entre Rios fields, the operator said on May 2.
Petrobras—which has started required operational procedures to safely return production processes at the six installations—said added production from these newly approved sites, combined with output from infrastructure ANP previously authorized for operational return, will result in reestablishment of about 43% of the cluster’s total production.
Incremental return of production in Bahia follows a December 2022 order from ANP for Petrobras to shut down operations in 37 onshore oil and gas production plants in Bahia (OGJ Online, Apr. 14, 2023).
On Apr. 12, the company received approval to resume production from Fazenda Bálsamo field, which followed a Mar. 31 authorization to restart production from Araçás field.
At the time of the March approval, Petrobras said it also had started procedures to resume operations of wells and pipelines, as well as oil treatment and natural gas compression stations.
