Petrobras receives injunction against Bahia Terra cluster sale
Petróleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) has been notified of a preliminary injunction issued by the Court of Justice of the State of Rio de Janeiro on June 6, 2022, halting contractual negotiations with the Petrorecôncavo and Eneva consortium for sale of onshore production fields in Recôncavo and Tucano basins, in the state of Bahia, jointly called the Bahia Terra cluster.
Petrobras started the binding phase of the sale of its stakes in Bahia Terra in March 2021 (OGJ Online, Mar. 19, 2021). The cluster is comprised of 28 onshore production field concessions in the Recôncavo and Tucano basins and includes access to processing, logistics, storage, transportation, and outflow infrastructure for oil and natural gas.
The cluster includes collection and treatment stations, oil storage and transportation parks, and gas and oil pipelines, as well as the natural gas processing unit Catu and other infrastructure associated with the production process.
Petrobras reinforced its adherence to the Bahia Terra Cluster competitive process, its internal rules, and provisions of the special procedure for assignment of rights of exploration, development, and production of oil, natural gas, and other fluid hydrocarbons, provided for in Decree 9,355/2018. The company added that it will adopt all reasonable legal measures to protect its interests and those of its investors.
