Vaalco Energy advances Gabon, Egypt drilling campaigns

The operator plans to continue to add production and reserves with the remainder of its Gabon drilling campaign and build on its 2025 drilling campaign in Egypt.

Vaalco Energy Inc., Houston, is continuing drilling plans following notable results from drilling campaigns offshore Gabon and onshore Egypt.

Gabon

In Gabon, the operator drilled, completed, and placed the Ebouri-5H development well on production. The well penetrated the top of the structure and had 300 m of lateral net pay in high-quality Gamba sands. The well achieved an initial flow rate exceeding 8,000 (gross) bo/d with low water cut.

The drilling campaign will continue with a rig mobilization to the SEENT platform to drill the ETBNM-3 development well as a directionally drilled slant well, adjacent to GMF-1X discovery well. The well is targeting gas and condensate resources in the Dentale D15 reservoir from the crest of the North Tchibala structure.

If successful, natural gas produced from the well will be utilized for field operations to reduce costs from higher priced diesel currently transported to the field by vessel.

Vaalco is operator at the Etame Marin block offshore Gabon which includes Ebouri field (58.8%).

Egypt

In Egypt, Vaalco drilled, completed, and placed on production the HE-9 development well. It encountered 26 m of net pay in the Asl B reservoir and flowed at 529 bo/d, above predrill expectations. The well is the first in the 2026 drilling program onshore Egypt.

In the country, Vaalco operates fields in the Eastern Desert, encompassing the West Gharib, West Bakr, and North West Gharib merged concessions, and the Western Desert, which includes the South Ghazalat concession.
