bp to drill in the Mediterranean

bp plc signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources to evaluate a 5-well program in the Mediterranean Sea.

The wells will be drilled in the West Nile Delta in 300-1,500 m of water and will use existing production infrastructure with possible tie-back options.

Drilling operations are expected to start in 2026.

In first-half 2025, bp drilled the Fayoum-5 gas discovery well and El King-2 exploration well, both part of the West Nile Delta development.
