Equinor lets contract for semi drilling rig in NCS

Equinor ASA has let a six-well contract to Transocean Ltd. for its Transocean Norge newbuild harsh-environment semisubmersible drilling rig for use in the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
Equinor ASA has let a six-well contract to Transocean Ltd. for its Transocean Norge newbuild harsh-environment semisubmersible drilling rig for use in the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
The contract is expected to begin in July 2019 and run about 300 days following the shipyard delivery of the rig early next year. The contract includes four single-well options.
Transocean will operate the rig with a 33% interest. Hayfin Capital owns the rig with 67% as part of a joint venture (OGJ Online, May 8, 2018).
The contract backlog is $89 million, excluding a bonus opportunity and other services. The contract is denominated 55% in US dollars and 45% in Norwegian kroner.
