Equinor lets drilling contract for Statfjord Øst

Equinor Energy AS has let a contract to COSL Offshore Management AS to drill four wells on Statfjord Øst, in the Tampen area in the North Sea, starting in spring 2023.

Equinor Energy AS has let a contract to COSL Offshore Management AS to drill four wells on Statfjord Øst, in the Tampen area in the North Sea, starting in spring 2023. The contract, for use of the COSLPromoter rig, has options for drilling five wells for Statfjord satellites.

The contract includes drilling and completion services, fuel, treatment of wastewater, handling of cuttings, and upgrading of the rig by installing an automatic drilling control system. Additional services include running casing, operating a remote-operated vehicle (ROV), mobilization, and demobilization. The total contract value is potentially about $60 million and has an estimated duration of 220 days.

COSLPromoter is currently in hot lay-up at the CCB base outside Bergen after drilling for Equinor on Troll field from April 2013 to April 2021.

Equinor is operator at Statfjord Øst (31.6875%) with partners Petoro AS (30%), Vår Energi AS (20.55%), Spirit Energy Norway AS (11.5625%), Idemitsu Petroleum Norge AS (4.8%), and Wintershall Dea Norge AS (1.4%).
