Groupement Isarene, a joint venture of Sonatrach and Petroceltic International PLC, has begun a new drilling and testing program at the Ain Tsila gas field, about 1,100 km south east of Algiers. The field will produce natural gas, LPG, and condensate.

The program consists of 17 wells total, 14 of which will be vertical and three horizontal. Rigs have been supplied by Sonatrach subsidiary Enafor. Completion equipment and fracking services will be carried out by Halliburton with additional completion services supplied by Schlumberger. Initial results are expected at the end of March with preliminary indications that the resource of the field will increase substantially from initial commerciality forecasts.

The field is estimated to hold a gross resource of 2.1 tcf of sales gas, 67 million bbl of condensate, and 108 million bbl of LPG (OGL Online, Mar 13, 2019).
