Wintershall granted approval for Vega-area wildcat

Wintershall Dea Norge AS has been granted a drilling permit by the Norwegian Offshore Directorate for drilling in production license (PL) 248 in the North Sea.

Wintershall Dea Norge AS has been granted a drilling permit by the Norwegian Offshore Directorate for drilling in production license (PL) 248 in the North Sea.

Well 35/11-27 S will be drilled by the Transocean Norge semi-submersible drilling rig. Wintershall will also use the Transocean Norge as part of the Maria field revitalization project in the Norwegian Sea (OGJ Online, 2024).

Wintershall Dea is operator at PL 248 (60%) with partner Petoro AS (40%). The license contains the Wintershall-operated Vega oil and gas field northwest of Bergen.
