Sonatrach lets contract for Alrar gas processing plant

State-owned Sonatrach has let a contract to Emerson Electric Co., St. Louis, in partnership with Fores Engineering SRL, Forli, Italy, to modernize its natural gas processing plant in Alrar, in southeast Algeria.

State-owned Sonatrach has let a contract to Emerson Electric Co., St. Louis, in partnership with Fores Engineering SRL, Forli, Italy, to modernize its natural gas processing plant in Alrar, in southeast Algeria.

As part of the $32-million contract, Emerson, which will serve as main automation contract, will update control and safety systems, fire and gas systems, field-instrumentation control and isolation valves, and other equipment to improve production efficiencies, equipment reliability, and safety at the plant, the service provider said.

Emerson’s scope of work on the project includes engineering, procurement, commissioning, and testing of integrated control and safety systems, fire and gas systems, boosters and compressor controls, field instrumentation, liquid and gas metering skids, control and isolation valves, and other equipment designed to optimize plant processes.

Further details regarding the contract were not disclosed.

Sonatrach has not publicly made available operational capacity information for the Alrar plant.
