Worley Ltd., on behalf of Saudi Aramco, awarded Baker Hughes Co. an order to supply 17 gas-turbine powered centrifugal compressors for the third phase of Saudi Arabia’s 12.5-bcfd Master Gas System (MGS). The order was booked first-quarter 2024 and follows delivery of 18 similar Baker Hughes compressors for MGS Phase 1 and 2.

Baker Hughes is also expanding its manufacturing site in Modon, Saudi Arabia, in support of delivery of projects in the country, including MGS Phase 3.

In February, Baker Hughes announced the delivery of the first two trains of hydrogen compression for Saudi Arabia’s NEOM green hydrogen project, which it describes as the largest such project in the world. NEOM plans to use exclusively renewable electricity to produce 219,000 tonnes/year of hydrogen to be exported as ammonia starting by end-2026.
