Gascade completes OAL subsea pipeline installation
Gascade Gastransport GMBH has completed installation of its 50-km Ostsee Anbindungsleitung (OAL) subsea natural gas pipeline. Having executed OAL’s above-water tie in, the company expects to begin line fill of the 48-in OD system "imminently."
OAL connects Deutsche ReGas GMBH & Co. KGaA’s LNG terminal in the port of Mukran with the German pipeline network in Lubmin. The pipeline will also be capable of feeding hydrogen into the German grid.
The Mukran terminal will include two floating storage and regasification units (FSRU). Commissioning is planned for first-quarter 2024.
Deutsche ReGas last year commissioned its 5.2 billion cu m/year Deutsche Ostsee LNG terminal in Lubmin and the Mukran terminal is an expansion of that project (OGJ Online, Jan. 31, 2023). Dynagas LNG Partners LP’s 174,000-cu m Transgas Power FSRU will be the initial vessel performing regasification at Mukran.
Saipem SPA performed OAL pipelay using its Castoro 10 construction barge. ABL Group ASA completed OAL's marine warranty survey.
