Tallgrass Energy LP’s 70-mile, 36-in. OD Cheyenne Connector pipeline and Rockies Express Pipeline (REX) Cheyenne Hub Enhancement project have begun commercial service. Cheyenne Connector provides 600 MMcfd of fully subscribed takeaway capacity from Denver-Julesburg basin (DJ basin), with expansion capacity available.

The pipeline receives natural gas from processing facilities in southern Weld County, Colo., and delivers it to the REX Cheyenne Hub just south of the Wyoming border, where numerous other natural gas pipelines interconnect. Interconnections include Kinder Morgan Inc.’s Colorado Interstate Gas system and Wyoming Interstate Co., and Tallgrass’s Trailblazer pipeline.

REX Cheyenne Hub’s modifications will allow it to receive natural gas from interconnecting pipelines and have bi-directional capability at several existing interconnects. It is subscribed to 800 MMcfd, 200 MMcfd of which is expected to enter service fourth-quarter 2020. The hub has additional expansion capability beyond the 800 MMcfd subscribed.

Tallgrass owns 50% and operates Cheyenne Connector. DCP Midstream owns the other 50%.
