Epic to build ethane, ethylene pipelines serving Corpus Christi cracker

Epic Y-Grade Holdings LP affiliates Epic Y-Grade Pipeline LP and Epic Olefins LP will build more than 130 miles of 12-in. OD ethane and ethylene pipeline to support the 1.8 million tonne/year ethane cracking complex being built by Gulf Coast Growth Ventures (GCGV) in San Patricio County, Tex.

The pipelines will transport ethane from Epic’s fractionator in Robstown, Tex., and deliver ethylene to Markham, Tex. Both pipelines are expected to be completed by third-quarter 2020.

Transportation agreements between Epic and GCGV are multiyear and underpinned by minimum volume commitments. In addition to producing ethylene, GCGV will include a 1.1 million tpy monoethylene glycol unit and two polyethylene units.

Engineering, procurement, construction, and other contracts have been signed for GCGV and US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to proceed with construction granted (OGJ Online, July 26, 2019). GCGV is a joint venture of ExxonMobil Corp. and Saudi Arabian Basic Industries Corp.
