Woodside lets dredging contract for Scarborough field

Woodside Energy has awarded Dutch dredging company Boskalis a contract for the seabed intervention and shore crossing sectors of the proposed Scarborough field export gas pipeline offshore Western Australia.

Woodside Energy Ltd., Perth, has awarded Dutch dredging company Boskalis a contract for the seabed intervention and shore crossing sectors of the proposed Scarborough field export gas pipeline offshore Western Australia.

The contract, worth an estimated €145 million, is subject to the Scarborough development receiving a final investment decision, which is expected in 2020.

The scope of the contract includes pre-trenching along a 50-km section of the nearshore pipeline route, deepwater excavation work, pre-lay and post-lay rock installation for the pipeline, and fiber optic cable crossings and post installation burial and other protection works to ensure the stability of the pipeline.

Once FID is reached, the seabed intervention and shore crossing works are scheduled to begin in March 2021 for completion in mid-2022.

Boskalis will mobilize specialist excavation and rock placement equipment for the contract, which also includes the supply of rock material.
