Sentinel Midstream to begin construction on Texas GulfLink deepwater port

Sentinel Midstream said construction on the project, which the DOT said will reduce vessel congestion in nearshore waters, improve navigational safety, and enhance the logistical efficiency of US crude oil exports,

Sentinel Midstream LLC, Dallas, is advancing work on its deepwater oil export port project off the coast of Texas, with construction set to begin immediately, the company said May 5.

Sentinel will lead the development of Texas GulfLink, overseeing construction, commercial operations, and long-term management of the terminal, which will be capable of loading Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs) about 30 miles off the coast of Freeport, Tex.

With funding provided under the US-Japan Trade Agreement signed Sept. 4, 2025, the project “advances in coordination with the US Department of Commerce and the Government of Japan and reflects the shared commitment to strengthening global energy security and expanding US export infrastructure,” the company said in a release May 5.  

In February, the US Department of Transportation approved the license for Sentinel Midstream to build and operate the Texas GulfLink project.
