On Mar. 26, 2026, Commonwealth LNG LLC agreed to sell Glencore Ltd. an additional 1 million tonnes/year (tpy) of LNG for a term of 20 years from its planned 9.5-million tpy plant in Cameron Parish, La. The two companies had reached a 2-million tpy, 20-year agreement in March 2025.

Commonwealth also amended its existing agreement with EQT LNG Trading Inc. to increase it to 2 million tpy from 1 million tpy in the wake of an earlier 1-million tpy agreement with JERA Co. Inc. having been terminated by the customer.

Pre-construction and initial site preparation activities began in December 2025, including geotechnical surveys, placement of site benchmarks, lowering of existing well casings, civil surveys, and initial site mowing. Engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) site mobilization started in early March 2026. Technip Energies is the project’s EPC contractor.

To date, Commonwealth has secured long-term binding offtake agreements for about 8 million tpy of the plant’s capacity and says it is actively engaged in discussions for the rest. FID is planned for 2026, with first exports anticipated in 2029.
