MidOcean Energy has agreed to acquire JERA Co. Inc.’s 0.417% interest in the Chevron Corp.-operated Gorgon LNG project, increasing its stake to 1.417%.

The deal also covers JERA’s 0.735% interest in the Inpex Corp.-operated Ichthys LNG project, which will later be transferred to an existing joint‑venture participant following satisfaction of additional conditions, the companies said in separate releases Mar. 12.

In parallel, MidOcean and JERA said they are exploring future collaborations, including additional transactions across global LNG and adjacent energy markets, with the aim of forming a strategic alliance.

Gorgon LNG draws supply from offshore Gorgon and Jansz‑Io fields in Western Australia. The project includes three LNG trains with a combined nameplate capacity of 15.6 million tonnes/year, along with domestic gas supply and condensate production supported by offshore and onshore infrastructure on Barrow Island.

The deal is expected to close in first-half 2026, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary conditions.
