Pembina Pipeline Corp. and the Haisla Nation’s engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor for their joint-venture Cedar LNG plant, Black & Veatch, has chosen Chart Industries Inc. to supply liquefaction equipment—including cold boxes and brazed aluminum heat exchangers—for the 3.3-million tonne/year (tpy) plant.

Chart Industries’ selection follows a notice to proceed issued to project contractors during the first week of April 2024, during which Pembina and its partners also disclosed securing a binding 20-year liquefaction tolling services contract for the project with ARC Resources Ltd. (OGJ Online, Apr. 5, 2024).

The agreement would cover production of 1.5 million tpy of LNG using roughly 200 MMcfd delivered via pipeline from ARC’s Montney shale production base.

Cedar LNG will use a floating LNG plant stationed in Kitimat, BC. Samsung Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. is performing EPC for conversion of the vessel into an FLNG plant.
