Venture Global LNG has let a gas technology equipment contract to Baker Hughes to provide a modularized LNG system and power island.

The award builds on previous ones from Venture Global to Baker Hughes to provide comprehensive LNG technology solutions for the Calcasieu Pass and Plaquemines LNG projects in Louisiana, Baker Hughes said in a release Oct. 2.

The contract was awarded under a master equipment supply agreement between Venture Global LNG and Baker Hughes for more than 100 million tonnes/year (tpy) of production capacity, which was expanded from 70 million tpy (OGJ Online, Sept. 5, 2023).

Venture Global LNG took final investment decision (FID) on both phases of its 20 million tpy nameplate Plaquemines LNG plant, which is on target to produce first LNG in 2024.

Construction of the CP2 LNG plant is expected to begin later this year. To date, 9.25 million tpy of CP2 LNG’s 20 million tpy nameplate capacity has been sold under 20-year agreements.

Baker Hughes provided LNG technology solutions to the Calcasieu Pass LNG plant, which began production in January 2022, and will provide the same to the currently under-construction Plaquemines LNG plant (OGJ Online, Feb. 7, 2022; Mar. 9, 2022).
