Pacific Rubiales Energy Corp., Toronto, has spud the Mauritia East-1 exploratory well on the 10,029 sq km Moriche block in Colombia’s Llanos basin as an 8,370-ft test of the Tertiary Carbonera and Mirador formations.

HOUSTON, Jan. 18
– Pacific Rubiales Energy Corp., Toronto, has spud the Mauritia East-1 exploratory well on the 10,029 sq km Moriche block in Colombia’s Llanos basin as an 8,370-ft test of the Tertiary Carbonera and Mirador formations.

Petrodorado Ltd., Calgary, a subsidiary of Cap-Link Ventures Ltd., is funding well costs estimated at $5.53 million to earn a 49.5% working interest in the block and prospect.

Moriche is part of a five-block joint venture between Pacific Rubiales Energy and Petrodorado in Colombia and Peru.
