One person was killed and three others, including a Chinese engineer, were injured when unidentified persons ambushed a survey team near Sunny area 160 km northeast of Sibi, in Pakistan's Baluchisan province, on Monday. Sources said that a heavy contingent of police and Frontier Corps was dispatched to the area.
The International Energy Agency invited South Korea to become its 26th member. The country began talks on membership in 1993 and has accumulated emergency oil stocks above 90 days of oil importss, thereby fulfilling a key requirement for all IEA members. South Korea applied for membership Apr. 9 and was approved Apr. 19.
Acting on a directive given by Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, the cabinet resolved to reinstate Piyasvasti Amranand as the head of Thailand's National Energy Policy Office.
