Equipment costs rise moderately

Costs for the five equipment items which make up the Nelson-Farrar miscellaneous equipment cost index rose moderately in the 1994-1995 period. The miscellaneous equipment index average moved steadily from 849.6 to 896.3 in 24 months.

Greatest increase among the components making up the equipment average was that of heat exchangers, from 697.3 in January 1994 to 804.6 in December 1995.

Instruments rose 32.9 points during the period, from 881.0 to 913.9. Engines gained 22 points during the 1994-1995 period examined.

The pumps and compressors average was 1,338.1 in December 1995, and 1,268.2 in January 1994. This showed a 69.9 point increase for the 2-year period.
