Verde Clean Fuels names Burdette CEO, advances strategic review
Verde Clean Fuels Inc. has appointed George Burdette president and chief executive officer and retained Roth Capital Partners as financial advisor as it advances a strategic review tied to its ongoing restructuring.
Burdette succeeds Ernest Miller, who stepped down as chief executive officer to pursue another opportunity, the company said in a release Mar. 20. Miller will remain with the company as a senior advisor. Burdette has served as Verde’s chief financial officer since October 2024 and will continue in that role.
The leadership change follows Verde’s move away from what it described as a "capital‑intensive," company‑owned project development toward a "capital‑lite" model focused on licensing its STG+ technology and providing engineering and technical services. As part of the shift, the company suspended development of its Permian basin natural gas‑to‑gasoline project and initiated broad cost‑reduction measures.
Verde Clean Fuels will evaluate strategic alternatives that include a strategic partnership, merger, sale of the company, asset sale, licensing arrangement, capital raise, or other transactions involving the company’s technology platform or assets.
