Exxon Mobil Corp. will centralize operations supporting ExxonMobil Product Solutions, Low Carbon Solutions, and Upstream businesses into one organization, ExxonMobil Global Operations, in 2026.

With the centralization comes leadership changes, the company said in a release Nov. 4.

Jon M. Gibbs, president of ExxonMobil Global Projects Co., will become senior president, ExxonMobil Global Operations, effective Jan. 1, 2026. Staale Gjervik, president, ExxonMobil Supply Chain, will succeed Gibbs as president, ExxonMobil Global Projects Co.

Gibbs joined Exxon Co. USA in 1993 as an engineer and has held increasingly senior roles throughout his career, including management positions in Nigeria, Angola and Indonesia. Gibbs returned to Houston in 2016 as vice-president, Upstream and was appointed president of ExxonMobil Global Services Co. in 2019. He has been president, Global Project Company since 2021.

Gjervik, who has been president, ExxonMobil Supply Chain since May 2023, joined the company in 1998 in Norway as an engineer. Prior to his current role, Gjervik was president of the Global Services Co. and previously held senior leader positions within Upstream in the United States, Angola, Norway, the United Kingdom, and Nigeria.

ExxonMobil said the move is in line with other efforts to consolidate projects, technology, and supply chain teams into ‘unified global organizations.’
