Shell Australia has appointed Cecile Wake as its new chair following the promotion of Tony Nunan to a senior role in London.

Shell Australia has appointed Cecile Wake as its new chair following the promotion of Tony Nunan to a senior role in London.

Wake will move up from her previous position as chief executive officer of Arrow Energy, Shell’s coal seam gas joint venture business with PetroChina in Queensland.

Wake has 25 years of experience in LNG and oil and gas project development and operations including senior commercial roles at Shell and BG Group.

Her official role is senior vice-president of integrated gas Australia overseeing the company's operated and non-operated gas production and liquefaction businesses in the country. She succeeds Nunan as chair of Shell Australia effective May 22, 2023.

Nunan will take up the newly created role of chief of staff and corporate relations, reporting to Shell chief executive Wael Sawan.

Godson Njoku, who joined Shell in 2002 and most recently served as senior vice-president, Shell Australia East, will become Arrow Energy chief executive officer.
