Shell to sell Nigeria domestic gas business to Vaaris Energy
Nigerian energy company Vaaris Energy Ltd. has agreed to acquire Shell Petroleum BV’s domestic gas business in Nigeria. The transaction includes Shell Nigeria Gas Holding BV, which was established in 2019 and holds all the shares (except for one) in Shell Nigeria Gas Ltd.
Shell Nigeria Gas Ltd. (SNG), a fully owned Shell company established in 1998, operates a domestic natural gas distribution business to industrial and commercial customers in Nigeria, operating around 170 km of pipeline infrastructure across Ogun, Abia, and Rivers states.
SNG does not operate in upstream gas production, LNG, or international gas trading.
Shell said the company will continue to focus on its deepwater and integrated gas businesses in Nigeria, including its interest in Nigeria LNG.
The transaction is subject to regulatory conditions and approvals.
