Petroleum Development Oman lets equipment contract for Block 6 work
Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) let two 5-year contracts to SLB for wellheads and artificial lift technologies for work on Block-6 onshore Oman.
The contracts include the provision of low-pressure, high-pressure, and thermal wellheads, as well as electric submersible pumps (ESPs) and progressive cavity pumps (PCPs). The aim is to increase recovery rates and extend the productive life of the block, SLB said in a release.
Wellheads will be produced at SLB’s Rusayl production center, and ESPs will be assembled at its Nizwa assembly, repair, and testing center. SLB will deploy a 15k psi modular compact wellhead system, ESP surveillance systems, and ESP permanent magnet motors.
Block 6 is a conventional oil field covering 90,000 sq km in Oman’s Mountain Foldbelt and Rub al Khali basins. PDO operates the block.
