'Speculators are nothing but sophisticated investors'

Rep. Tom Feeney (R-Fla.), a House Judiciary Committee member, in an opening statement to a May 22 hearing by the committee's task force on competition policy and antitrust laws on retail gasoline prices and oil industry competition:

"Speculators are nothing but sophisticated investors. They are watching Congress and betting we'll make the situation worse."
